AN INVITATION TO JOIN THE INTERNATIONAL HALAL INTEGRITY ALLIANCE (IHI ALLIANCE)
On the last day of the World Halal Forum 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, delegates from all over the world and from every sector of the Halal industry passed a resolution that the Halal industry warrants its own industry body. The WHF Secretariat has undertaken the responsibility to make this resolution a reality by forming the International Halal Integrity Alliance (“IHI Alliance”).
IHI Alliance is an international, not-for-profit initiative created to represent the international Halal industry players with one definitive voice.
The IHI Alliance’s mission is to strengthen the halal market and uphold the integrity of halal for the benefit of all.
The IHI Alliance’s main objectives are:
- Develop best practices and guidelines for halal standards and certification ensuring halal integrity throughout the supply chain.
- Create awareness of the benefits and promote the understanding of halal amongst Muslims and non-Muslims.
- Increase the availability and product range of halal goods by encouraging manufacturers to expand or introduce halal production lines.
- Create a knowledge base on halal not only from the Shariah perspective but also based on scientific validation. R&D will be directed to develop halal alternative products and technologies to overcome issues of haram ingredients and processes that impair halal integrity.
- Improve the welfare of Muslims throughout by leveraging on Halal as a catalyst for economic growth. IHI will work closely with governments to facilitate development of the halal industry in their respective countries.
