PROFESSOR DR MOHAMAD HASHIM KAMALI
Mohamad Hashim Kamali is currently the Chairman & CEO of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies, Malaysia. He graduated from Kabul University and then completed his LLM in Comparative Law, and Ph.D in Islamic and Middle Eastern Law at the University of London (1969 – 1976). He is currently on the International Advisory Board of eleven academic journals published in Malaysia, USA, Canada, Kuwait, India, Australia and Pakistan. Professor Kamali has served as a UN consultant on constitutional reforms in the Maldives, and as a Shariah expert on the constitution of Iraq (2005 – 2006). Professor Kamali is a signatory to the “Common Word” between Muslims and Christians worldwide, has addressed over 120 national and international conferences, published 16 books and over 110 academic articles. He delivered the Prominent Scholars Lecture Series (Silsila Muhadarat Ulama’ al-Barizin) No. 20 at the Islamic Research and Training Institute of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 1996 and the Multaqa Sultan Ahmad Shah Lecture in Kuantan 2002. Professor Kamali has featured frequently on the print media, radio, TV and the internet. He featured a full page article in Berliner Zeitung just before the Taliban blew up the Bamian Statues and on the Iran Television network just before the US invasion of Afghanistan. He also appeared on RTM Malaysia, Afghanistan Ariana TV, TV Kuwait, Al Arabiya, The Maldives TV, and Al-Jazeera, the last just before the Archbishop of Canterbury spoke on recognition of aspects of Shariah in Britain. He received the Isma’il al-Faruqi Award for Academic Excellence twice in 1995 and 1997, and he is listed in a number of leading Who’s Who in the World.
DR MOHD ASRI ZAINUL ABIDIN
Dr. Mohd Asri is the former Head of Religion from the state of Perlis, Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Art (Hons) in Arabic Language/Shariah from the University of Jordan, Master of Art in Religious Studies from the University of Science, Malaysia, PhD Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (Al-Quran and Sunnah Studies) from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Dr Asri has written many published literatures and journals on Islamic understanding and studies and has been an invited speaker for many renowned dialogues and proceedings.
DR HANI MANSOUR AL-MAZEEDI
Son of the founder of the Kuwaiti parliament, Mansour Al-Mazeedi, Dr. Hani is a Kuwaiti scientist. He is known to have more than 29 years of continuous works in Food Safety and Food Quality Systems, in addition to Halal Food Service requirements. However, the system that has taken most of his interests in the field of food safety is Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) in addition to related systems such as Good Health Practices (GHP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and prerequisite programs which formulate the basis of food inspection. Dr. Hani has presented intensive training courses for a number of food establishments in Kuwait and abroad, in addition to academic universities. Additionally, Dr. Hani traveled to famous food industries and slaughterhouses in the world and watched closely the latest techniques in food processing. These countries include Australia, New Zealand, USA, France, Brazil, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Syria. A published author with four major publications to his name, he currently works as an associate scientist at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research.
PROFESSOR DATO' DR SANO KOUTOUB MOUSTAPHA
Professor Dato’ Dr. Sano has extensive academic qualifications which include the Doctorate of the State in Islamic Sciences (Islamic Finance) from the University of Zaitouna. Tunisia, Doctor of Philosophy in Laws (Usul al-Fiqh) with Distinction and recommendation for publication and translation from the International Islamic University Malaysia, Master of Art (M.A) in Comparative Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh al-Muqaran) from King Saud University. Saudi Arabia, Post Graduate Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Bachelor of Education in Islamic Studies " Fiqh and Usul al Fiqh" from the King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. Currently he is the Deputy Rector, Internationalization and Innovation, International Islamic University Malaysia and the Deputy Chairman for Council of International Fiqh Academy, Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).
